Dinner at JB (Lok lok & Wanton mee)

The only thing that can make me brave through the massive traffic jam to JB is the food (apart from the cheap petrol). I love the Lok Lok and Wanton Mee there and I need to have a fortnightly dosage of them.

And so, Mr Tan and I headed to JB earlier on to have a full body thai massage and also to satisfy our craving for Lok Lok + Wanton Mee.

This is the Wanton Mee stall that we usually go to - Ah Piaw Wanton Mee

We usually order a large plate (without chilli + black sauce) to share so that we have space for lok lok after that.

The wanton mee + chilli is nice too but its a little too spicy for me to enjoy the whole plate properly without having to glup down a glass of drink.

And now, the highlight of the dinner
Lok Lok

Most of the sticks are deep fried unless you request to cook it in boiled water. We usually over order cos I love fried stuff (I'm a 100% junk food lover. Hehe).

These were what we ordered tonight

We ordered a little more than usual as we didn't eat lok lok for more than a month already.

My must-order items are fried brocolli, long beans, ba gua, luncheon meat, golden mushroom bacon wrap and oyster mushrooms.

Me looking very happy with my dinner :D

Both the wanton mee and lok lok stall are just right beside each other, located behind Tebrau Hawker centre (aka Taman Sentosa where people usually eat seafood at).

Last night in Seoul

Time flies and its my last night in Seoul. Technically speaking, its my last day in Seoul cos its after midnight now.

Weather was very cold and the wind was very strong today. Didn't managed to keep myself warm enough with my not-that-thick jacket.

Didn't buy a lot of things during this trip (beauty buys are not counted. Hehe), was expecting myself to buy more as this is my first time to Korea.

I've been climbing many flight of stairs and walking almost non-stop from morning till late night everyday. In need of a full body massage for my aching body and legs!

In the meanwhile, I had to make do with foot mask.
(Using my newly bought foot mask from The Face Shop)

I will be flying back tomorrow late night and reaching SG on Sat morning.
Till then, Bye!!

Annyeong from Seoul! :)

Greetings from Seoul!

Today is my first day at Seoul at I'm a little sad that shopping is not as great due to the change in season. Nontheless, I still happy to be here!

It's quite cold at night and I'm beginning to worry about the fact that i only brought 1 thicker jacket here, the rest (only 2) are cardigan. I hope i don't have to resort into buying a jacket here.

Shall end this post with a picture of me at my fav kitty cafe
(Hello Kitty Cafe @ Hongdae)

Will update more about my trip when I'm back :)

Unisim Convocation 2013 & Tim Ho Wan

Took leave on Wed (ended up with only 3 working days this week.hehe) to attend Jeff's convocation. His last paper with Unisim was Dec 2012 and waited for 10 long months for his convocation.

Unisim is very nice to give a cute graduation bear this year which saved my money to buy one. Yay!

Our couple shot ♥

The ceremony was a long and torturing one. I've never like such ceremony. Anyway, I managed to capture a blur shot of Jeff when he went up on stage.

You are now an official graduate!
I'm so proud of u, for completing the course within 3 years and juggling between school, work and me well
(with me as the priority of cos. Hehe)

With the Tan Family :)

We decided to try our luck at Tim Ho Wan for dinner. And guess what, we were really lucky! We were seated almost immediately when we reached there at about 6.45pm. No horrible queue with long waiting time at all.

Tim Ho Wan (添好運)
ERA Centre
450 Toa Payoh Lorong 6 #02-02
Singapore 319394
11am to 10pm

The menu at glance

We were quite full from the buffet that was provided at SIM and didn't order much at Tim Ho Wan.

What we ordered:

The legendary Baked bun with BBQ pork.
I'm a big fan of char siew and this taste really awesome. Love the baked skin!

The yummy char siew filling

I personally like the Baked char siew bun the most, followed by the Fried spring roll with egg white and Beancurd skin roll with shrimp. Apparently there are raves about the carrot cake which i couldn't figure out the reason. It taste pretty normal to me.

Overall, I wouldn't want to queue for hours to dine at Tim Ho Wan as I can satisfy my baked char siew bun craving at Canton Paradise (which serves good dim sum in my opinion). I heard the average waiting time and Plaza Singapura outlet is about 1.5 to 2 hours. You might want to consider to pop by the outlet at TPY instead.

Koh Grill & Sushi Bar @ Wisma

Met up with Alicia and Ruyu after work on Monday night (CHEERS to PH eve) for Ruyu's advanced birthday celebration :)

The soon-to-be birthday girl chose Koh Grill & Sushi Bar as the venue for the dinner.  I was elated as I've been wanting to try (not going to wait for Mr Tan to bring me there anymore).

Located at level 4 of Wisma Foodcourt, it's not easy to miss Koh Grill & Sushi Bar. Just walk towards the longest queue that you can see and you will be in the correct direction.

We were spoilt for choices but we managed to control and didn't over order (or maybe we did).

Salmon Sashimi
Each piece was so Fresh and THICK.
Love it!

Tonkatsu
Just another fried pork cutlet.
Give this a miss unless u are craving for it.

SHIOK Maki (Eel)
(There are two types of Shiok Maki, eel and prawn)
This is AWESOME!
Love the combi of cheese & the sauce.
One word to describe this, SHIOK.

Toriyaki
Pork cheek, pork belly, chicken skin, chicken meatball.
All taste as good as ToriQ

Grilled Cod Fish
Another must try!
Most of the tables ordered this too!

Gyoza
One of the best Gyoza that I've tried in SG

SHIOK Maki (prawn)
I personally prefer the eel version which i find it tastier. But for those who prefer food to be 'lighter' might like this better.

Total bill came up to be about SGD32 per pax (there were 3 of us) which i find it very reasonable for the quality of the food except that it's located inside a foodcourt. I hope they will open a second outlet soon with a bigger restaurant space.

I'm officially a big fan of Koh Grill & Sushi Bar now :D

May I have a yummy dream of SHIOK maki tonight.

Photo of the night with the girls ♥
See u all again after my trip!

1 more week to Seoul :D

Next week, this time i will be on the plane embarking to Seoul! Very looking forward to the trip with Mr Tan. It will be our first trip together to Seoul as well as my first trip there.

My itinerary is 70% done and everyday seems like a war. We will be waking up as early as 7.15am and stay up till late night (after midnight in fact).

My cousin and his gf will be there during the period and we will be meeting up a few times. Yay!

Tasks done:
1) Accommodation booked
2) Nanta show booked
3) Microsim card ordered (will be delivered to the hotel.  I can't live without internet)

Alright, got to get back to work (to finish up the itinerary).

Restaurant Week SG - b@rochester

When is the best period to dine at the finest restaurants in Singapore but at a fraction of the usual price? It has got to be the Restaurant Week!

During the Restaurant Week, all participating restaurants will offer exclusive three-course menus for lunch and dinner priced at $25+++ and $35+++ respectively.

This event is held twice year, usually in Mar and Oct. For more details and reservations, please go to www.restaurantweek.sg.

I made a reservation for a Friday dinner date with Mr Tan at b@rochester (1 of the partipating restaurants).

b@rochester
(serves modern Japanese cuisine)
No. 8 Rochester Park
S(139219)
+65 6778 1778

Our 3 course dinner menu of the night:
1) Salmon salad
2) Crispy seabass with croquette
3)Homemade matcha ice-cream

We were served with this salmon salad to start off our meal. The salmon is very fresh and I love it! (I'm a big fan of salmon so i might be a little bias)

Up next was the main course, cripsy seabass with croquette. Both of us enjoyed the seabass very much. The name of the dish says it all, c r i p s y.

The meal ended sweetly with this homemade matcha ice-cream. Mr Tan was a little disappointed when he knew that the dessert is matcha ice-cream as he doesn't like matcha to begin with. But to his surprise, the matcha ice-cream that was served didnt taste 'grassy' like the normal matcha and he finished the ice-cream!

Overall it was an enjoyable dinner at b@rochester. If you ask me if I would visit the restaurant again, maybe not as there are many good Japanese restaurants that i have yet to try. I love to explore new food places! (Just like exploring b@rochester during the Restaurant Week)

Shall end this post with my Friday OOTD.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE! :D

Bijin Nabe 美人锅

I've been wanting to try the 美人锅 at Tsukada Nojo for the longest time. But there is always a long queue at the Plaza Singapura outlet and they don't take in reservations.

I'm so glad that they opened a second outlet at Chinatown Point which take in reservations on weekdays (up till 6pm only though).

Mr.Tan and I were on leave few weeks ago and we made a reservation for our 'beauty session'.

Chinatown Point #02-37
Lunch: 11.30am to 3pm
Dinner: 5pm to 10pm

Each pax is $25 for the collagen hot pot set and the set comes with following (pls click the picture to enlarge for the details):

Check out the chunks of collagen that will be melted into soup. I could almost hear my skin crying with happiness when the collagen was served.

Took a video with instagram on how the collagen was melted together with the side dishes that came with the set.

The bubbling beauty hotpot, it's heavenly!

There is free bowl of collagen soup refill per pax but we were too full for it (or rather, we were saving some space for desserts).

Knowing that it's our first visit to the restaurant, the restaurant served us this.
Very sweet and thougtful of them!
Thumbs up for their service!

All the steps of the process of cooking were explained with details. The staff never fail to check on us every now and then to ensure that everything is fine.

The yummy egg pudding that came with a smile :)

Overall it was a very pleasant experience. Quite similar to eating steamboat (I'm a big fan of steamboat). I will definitely be back for the delicious collagen hotpot!

My first consultation at DRx

After hearing the raves about DRx for so long, i decided to experience it for myself.
Like all the ladies out there, I want to have flawless skin too. But there are a few obstacles between flawless skin and me. For example the white/ black heads on & nose + chin area and also my dull and uneven skin tone.

I happen to be on leave today and made an appointment with Dr. Angela for my very first consultation.
I didn't wait long to see the doctor, probably cos my appt was on a weekday morning.

Dr. Angela prescribed the following to me (she mentioned that its the basic skincare regime) :

1) Foaming cleanser
2) Toner
3) Comedone Formula
4) Max C
5) Pigment cream (for my eyes)
6) Vit-a-gel (i requested to opt this out)

Below is what i brought home from DRx

I'm very excited to try the highly raved Comedone Formula (CF) and Max C! CF is to soften and remove the white/black heads and Max C is for the GLOW that I'm longing for!

I was told to stop using my current skincare and to only use the prescribed DRx products to see the best results. Byebye SKII!

This is the pricelist if any of you are interested.

Flawless skin, here i come (soon)! :D

My first post after rinalicious.blogspot.com

Hello everyone! I'm back to blog (hopefully the fire won't die off so soon)!
It suddenly dawned on my that life is short and I should pen down my life journey to keep as memories (my children/grand children can read in future too)!

Decided to stop blogging at www.rinalicious.blogspot.com and start a brand new blog. Not sure if you realised that the old blog is privatised many months ago. For those who are keen to read my old entries, feel free to drop me an email and I can grant access to you :)

Time in 2013 has passed so fast that we are already in Q4. Lets see what had happened in my life in the first 3 quarters:

1) Holiday at Bangkok
2) Extracted 4 wisedom tooth at one go
3) Holiday at Phuket
4) Work trip at Paris
5) New job role (transfer department)
6) Cut my hair short - Bob style
7) Removed my braces (finally!)
8) Dept trip to Bali
9) Went Jay Chou concert at both SG & kL
10) Particpated in 2 x 10KM run (Adidas sundown and POSB kids run)

I promise i will blog very soon with pictures! But first, let me find some time to edit my blog layout.

You may follow me on instagram for more frequent updates (username: rinachew).

Have a good weekend everyone!
